Mala Waldron Quartet

Pianist, Vocalist and Songwriter, Mala Waldron, has shared the stage with Makanda Ken McIntyre, Don Braden, Jeanne Lee, Melvin Sparks, Hilton Ruiz, Bernard Purdie, Warren Smith, and others. She is a featured artist on the CDs: He's My Father (a duo with her father, jazz pianist/composer Mal Waldron) and Lullabye (a tribute to her godmother, Billie Holiday). Her recording, Always There, features guitarist Steve Salerno, bassist Miriam Sullivan, and drummer/percussionist Michael T.A. Thompson. Always There, licensed by Columbia Records in Japan, was voted one of the "Top 20 Jazz CDs of 2006" by JazzUSA. Mala has performed internationally and in the Catania Jazz Festival (Italy), and the Medgar Evers Jazzy Jazz Festival, Port Jefferson Jazz Festival (opening for Kenny Rankin), the Jazz XOXO Asian Tour, and The 2006 Diet Coke Women in Jazz Festival for Jazz at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola (Jazz at Lincoln Center) opening for Patrice Rushen. $10 admission.
